The John Reece Project
is a collaborative effort of John Reece along with Michigans finest blues, jazz, funk, pop and soul musicians producing what John calls Funky Smooth Jazz.
John Reece
is an accomplished smooth jazz saxophonist, writer, producer, arranger and master of the blues harmonica. John writes and collaborates with local and touring artists and records in his own "Island Paradise Studio". His smooth saxophone sound is highly influenced by his blues roots. John travels the Caribbean and performs with island musicians who greatly inspire his music. He is currently writing and performing with Motown artists, touring blues artists and local talent as the "John Reece Project". He also performs as a solo and duo act.
John Reece Project was nominated by the Detroit Music Awards, Jazz category in 2006, 2007 & 2008. John was featured in Big City Rhythm and Blues Magazine April 2005 in an article spotlighting Detroits great horn players. His political song The Time Has Come has been played on internet radio for the troops in Iraq. John performed live on NBC-TV for Superbowl Sunday with The Original Vandellas.
The band features drummer Chuck Flores, guitarist Matt Douglas, Bassist/Keyboardist Mark Cooper, Bassist Mark (Sid) Mathis and percussionist Patty Evans. The band is fronted by vocalists Sarah Schingeck and Duane Walker. Special guests include Motown legends The Original Vandellas ("Heat Wave", Dancing in the Streets") and Pat Lewis (background singer/arranger for Isaac Hayes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aretha Franklin and countless others). John Reece Project studio artists also include: Jeff Davis, Rob Schneider, Christina Morgan, Tone Styles, Mike Paradise and Renaldo Copeland of the Miracles fame.

Nephew of New Orleans pianist extraordinaire, Eddie Bo(cage), Charles grew up with Aaron Neville, both of whom played the Algiers club, The Greystone during its heydey. Charles toured with artists King Floyd and Gene Knight in South Africa during the Apartheid movement, during which time he jammed with George Benson, as well other notables. Charles' stage name is Charlie Wine, and he and Blaine Kerne have organized
several benefit concerts in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, concentrating on rebuilding efforts, as well as Neighborhood renewal and peacekeeping. |
