Waiting for the weekend to begin? Wait no longer. Come out to Downtown Ferndale [club] red Thursdays at Woodward and Nine every Thursday from 6-9 p.m. from June 12- September 4, 2008, brought to you by the Ferndale DDA, American Red Cross and 93.9 The River. This summer-long promotion takes some of the best parts of our Thursdays on the Nine events of years past, known for its free-form activities featuring street musicians, entertainers, amazing retail specials and discounts, and stretches it into a 13-week party. Every Thursday, a different restaurant or bar will be the Downtown Ferndale [club] red venues of the week and will offer a [club] red special, such as food or drink specials, entertainment or discounts. To pump up the on-street entertainment this year, the Ferndale DDA will be launching a "Rock on 9" Battle of the Bands competition beginning in July. Musicians will perform live on the sidewalks throughout the summer in a battle to win the Rock on 9 Artist of the year title! The public will be able to cast their vote online at 93.9 The River for their favorite local artist performing during the Downtown Ferndale [club] red Thursdays. While enjoying your summer nights and supporting our local businesses, you can also help out a great cause. The American Red Cross, Southeastern Michigan Chapter, turns caring into action by providing disaster relief and helping people prevent, prepare and respond to emergencies. Our First event will be a beer tasting at the Woodward Avenue Brewery in Ferndale on June 12. We'll be at different venues all over downtown Ferndale all summer long, so don't miss it!!!!
