| BIO: | Although I was born in Ohio and lived in Arizona I always only remember Metro Detroit as my home. I spent all of my formative years in and around Farmington Hills. Then I had the best years of my life while going to Michigan State University and value both the academic and life lessons I learned there. After college I got my masters from Northwestern University. Chicago was an incredible city to live in but I couldn't wait to get back because D-town will always be my home.
Now, I am a marriage and family therapist. I split my time between a private practice in West Bloomfield and a Wayne County Community Mental Health agency. Contrary to popular stereotype you do not have to be married to be a marriage therapist and you don't have to have kids to be a family therapist. It doesn't matter if you are gay/straight, white/black, young/old, rich/poor. It just takes sincerity, patience, a genuine interest in people and a little common sense. All qualities I think I possess. I am sure my friends and family can attest to that because I have been therapizing them for years! I thank them for keeping me sane.
|
| INTERESTS: | My most favorite things to do are talk, dance, roller blade, play scrabble, practice yoga, cook, learn, get ready, and go out. Each weekend I look forward to having my own private dance party and fashion show in front of my bedroom mirror and then taking my act on the road for the whole Metro-Detroit world to see.
|
| I'D LIKE TO MEET: | Joel McHale and Vince Vaughn. I basically think they would make a perfect addition to my group of friends.
|
| MUSIC: | Stephanie K (www.stephaniekmusic.com), almost all booty music (circa 1981-present), some country, some rap, a little of everything.
My current play list has everything from Foo Fighters to Wrex N Effect and Bel Biv Devoe to Taylor Swift to Usher to Michael Jackson to Beach Boys and hits just from about every genre and generation in between.
My local favorites are Stephanie K and Eminem.
|
| MOVIES: | My movie taste is arguably as random as my music taste. My personal faves are Juno, Suicide Kings, Everafter, Running Scared, Transamerica, Friends with Money, The Punisher, and Dances with Wolves and Love and Basketball.
|
| TELEVISION: | The Soup. Lately, it seems, everything else I am just settling on. The writers strike monumentally disrupted any show I used to follow and now I am just over it.
|
| INFLUENCES: | My mind.
|
| BOOKS: | Come Back by Claire Fontaine and Mia Fontaine
Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu
The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by John Gottman
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult
Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
& The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich

| ONLINE FOR: | I'm here to support Detroit and www.detroitcity.com.
My Detroit philosophy is that Detroit is like your younger brother who is messed up on drugs, acts irresponsibly and blows his money on whores and booze. But he's family. Its ok for you to give him a hard time but if anyone else gives him flack you'll always step up and have his back. You know deep down he's a good guy with a great heart. You want him to clean up his act and will support him in anyway you can. When people questioned why I would come back to the D from Chi-town I had to say, "Its family." I love this place and wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
