Bastone Brewery Celebrates Five Years with Dunkelweizen Brew

Bastone Brewery celebrates its fifth anniversary in Royal Oak with an award-winning birthday brew, award-winning Dunkelweizen

Bastone Brewery celebrates its fifth anniversary this month, and Managing Partner David Ritchie hopes patrons will stop in and raise a pint glass in honor of the occasion.
Perched at the corner of Main Street and Fifth Street, the Belgian and French-inspired bistro, Bastone, initially drew crowds for its fine cuisine. Soon enough, Bastone’s handcrafted brews proved an equal match to the menu.

It seemed only fitting to celebrate with an anniversary beer, the award-winning Dunkelwiezen. The beer recently earned a bronze medal in the German Wheat/Rye Beer category of the 14th annual World Beer Expo in Frankenmuth.

Bastone’s Dunkelwiezen has a light wheat aroma and a low vanilla character. It is light copper to mahogany brown in color with a flavor that carries notes of banana and clove. It is a well-rounded, somewhat sweet beer with a dry finish.

The Bastone Complex has plenty of reason to celebrate. Cafe Habana also celebrates 5 years, Vinotecca has been open for 4 years and Commune completes a successful first year, all this month.

Bastone Brewery first opened its doors in May of 2004. It is named and styled after the famous Belgian city. This unique restaurant and brewery is housed in a 1930’s era building. Beers are craft-brewed on-site with the finest malt, fresh hops and unique Belgian-style yeast strains for delicious flavor and character. The menu offers Belgian-style favorites including, Steamed Mussels and Pomme Frites, unique sandwiches, hearth-baked thin-crust pizzas, seafood, salads and more. Bastone is located at 419 South Main Street in Royal Oak. Call 248.544.6250 or visit www.bastonebrewery.com.
