Original, hard hitting metal; this is what defines The Underlying Ruin, a five piece project formed in the spring of 2005. With their crushing guitars, relentless drums, and fierce vocals, the band set out with one goal in mind: to create brutal, no holds-barred metal music-while at the same time maintaining an original, unique sound that cannot be matched. The Underlying Ruin began hitting the local circuit, standing out as a truly new and innovative take on metal music. The band quickly developed a local fan-base, making a name for them while playing venues throughout the Eastern Michigan area. Since then, The Underlying Ruin has graced the stage of clubs and venues all throughout Michigan, including Harpo's Concert Theater, I-Rock, The Emerald Theater, and The Machine Shop, sharing the stage with some of the finest metal bands that Michigan has to offer. In March of 2007, the band had the honor of winning the Harpo's Battle of the Bands; beating out over fifty other bands for the grand prize of a slot at the legendary Milwaukee Metalfest, where The Underlying Ruin shared the stage with metal legends Skinlab, Anal Blast, and God Forbid. The band has had it's twists and turns by losing their original drummer, but now have the most brutal line up YET!!!!
One thing is for sure: The Underlying Ruin will not back down. Watch for them in the months to come; as you surely will be hearing more of "The Underlying Ruin".
